Morgan Duffy (Mo) is a self-proclaimed modern-day Mary Poppins, who has a sprinkle wand instead of an umbrella. Who has hiking boots, instead of fancy slippers. Who carries drawing pads, instead of a cell phone. That's magical Mo.
The real Mo is an attorney, mediator, and business consultant. Prior to obtaining her law license she worked for a successful 2008 Presidential Campaign, and subsequently spent several years working in market research and strategy. Mo's agility and creativity is the engine behind this publishing machine.
Mo loves to write and design whimsical children's books that focus on relevant issues, but she also has a soft spot for anything having to do with nature. Look out for some upcoming releases about bugs, elephants and bees! She also has a not-so-kiddo-friendly satirical side that she writes from when the babes fall asleep.
When she's not dreaming up stories with her mother as illustrator and co-creator, Mo is far from her computer. She might be tending to her cactus farm, but most likely she is out looking for heart-shaped rocks in the desert, or a beautiful moss specimen in some wooded glen.
Mary, by education, is a zoologist/biologist/mad-woman naturalist who once worked on a study of Santa's reindeer cousins in Alaska (true story). For many moons, Mary, aka Duffy, was a writer and editor-in-chief of a small publishing company in the mountains of Colorado. She has vast old-school experience working with writers and publishing houses, and has also had many of her own words published. When she uprooted from her mountain home of nearly 35 years, she moved back to her homestate of California, where she has worked as a biologist and outreach director for a small non-profi advocating for the natural flora and fauna of Southern California. When she is not expertly advising on our next publication, Mary is working to save Western Monarchs by researching the butterflies native milkweed host species. She is an active member of San Diego Natural History Museum's Canyoneers and a frequent contributor to iNaturalist.
Mary raised her daughter Mo in Santa's summer home, a small mining/ski town in Colorado where they could spend days exploring magical, wild places and investigating whatever plants, animals and fungi they found. Now she enjoys, coddiwompling or nature bathing with her beloved granddaughter, Indigo.
